The Insights Association has awarded Special Project Grants to four of its dozen chapters for the second quarter of 2019.

“As we continue to grow, our Chapters serve a valuable role in engaging prospects and ensuring that existing members receive the service and support they need,” noted David W. Almy, CEO of the Insights Association. “We appreciate the thoughtful, innovative programs these Chapters have developed and are pleased to support them.”

Designed to encourage the imagination, ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of our Chapters, Special Project Grants spark inspirational, forward-thinking initiatives of merit at the local and regional level. The awards remove financial obstacles to enable progress from ideation to realization.

“All of the submissions we received were worthy of consideration and we applaud all of the Chapters who submitted applications in Q2,” said Hilary Fischer, Director of Chapter Engagement. “We’re thrilled to partially fund four of these projects for this quarter.” 

Florida Chapter
Funding will help implement the “Insights into the Future” initiative, which will provide 10 prospective members in the Florida student community with partial or full membership “scholarships.” The insights industry in Florida is booming, with many job openings, many entry level, in the Central and South Florida regions. The Florida Chapter is seeking to capitalize on the opportunity to reach out to students to promote the benefits of the Insights Association before they fully enter the job market. The Chapter will host three open house events in the Orlando, Miami, and Tampa areas on or near college campuses focused on undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in insights, market research and data analytics.

Great Lakes Chapter
Funding will support the “Mentorship Program,” which will begin with a Chapter Engagement survey to identify actionable ideas to improve and build on the GLC membership experience and engagement. This survey will be developed and implemented by students with the help of Chapter member mentor volunteers, who will share their knowledge and experience on study design, data collection, drawing insights/conclusions, and presentation skills. This will provide students with an opportunity to gain experience with questionnaire and study design, and all aspects of running a live research project. The student team will be invited to present their findings and research process at a GLC professional conference.

Mid-Atlantic Chapter
Funding will support the expansion of the “University Research Panels” program. The Chapter has presented two “Research Panels” in the past six months at George Washington University in Washington, DC, attended by both students and Chapter members. The 90-minute Panels feature several short presentations and a Q&A session. Approximately 40 students attended.

The Board plans to expand the “Research Panel” programs into Virginia and Maryland in Q3.  Such events would help extend local engagement and bring potential value to members who cannot travel to our nation’s capital.

New England Chapter
Funding will help implement the “Outreach Membership Expansion” initiative. As the industry expands and changes, members face many choices when it comes to the organizations which support our industry and provide educational opportunities. This program seeks to keep the Insights Association and the New England Chapter top of mind for prospective members and current members – increasing member engagement and encouraging higher rates of retention. Another goal is to engage underrepresented populations in the current Chapter membership (e.g. members under 40 and members from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds); and reinvigorate the membership base to increase event participation and volunteer rates. The Chapter plans to employ local college students in this outreach. The Chapter has also committed to sharing feedback on this approach with the other Chapters, in the hope of developing a best practice across all Chapters considering similar initiatives.
